SECTION 11
PROCEDURES TO BE FOLLOWED IN REPORTING A UTILITY PROBLEM ON CAMPUS

Possible situations:

- The smell of natural gas, or a broken gas line.
EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY!

- A broken water line, or flooding in any building.

- Failure of electrical power.

- Any other condition that seems unusual or dangerous.

If any member of the University community notices any of the above conditions he/she should immediately notify the Director of the Physical Plant (X 2241) between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or Campus Safety & Security (X 2486) between 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. and on weekends.

State the nature and location of the emergency. Give your name and phone number.

Campus Safety & Security will then notify the proper personnel. Do not contact personnel directly by means of home phone or pager. This will only delay response time and expeditious solution.

The Director of the Physical Plant will assess the situation, and will then contact the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. If it is determined that the building should be evacuated, the Director of the Physical Plant will contact the executive in charge of the building, who will coordinate the evacuation process with Campus Safety & Security.
