Wheeling, WV

Wheeling Jesuit University will host its twentieth annual Student Research and Scholarship Symposium on Tuesday, April 2. The symposium is open to the entire University community as well as the general public. All classes will be canceled on April 2.

The symposium will consist of an opening ceremony in the morning, a keynote address, presentations, lunch, additional presentations, a panel discussion, dinner, and the awards ceremony.

Interested students can access the online submission form starting today, Jan. 7. The deadline to submit abstracts is Friday, Feb. 1. In order to make a presentation -- either oral or poster -- a student must have support from his or her faculty sponsor. An abstract should not be submitted until the faculty sponsor has read the completed abstract and has agreed to support the submission. Abstracts submitted without faculty sponsor approval will not be accepted. Abstracts should be no more than 500 words.

Student submissions should only be made for projects that have been entirely completed, and each abstract must contain final results, final conclusions, and/or final interpretations. Student abstracts should not be submitted for works in progress, and any abstract submitted which does not indicate the final outcome of the endeavor will not be accepted. An exception may be made for seniors and graduate students who are nearing the conclusion of a senior or graduate student project and thus would not have the opportunity to participate in the following year's symposium. After completion of the online submission, students and faculty mentors will receive a conformation e-mail. Students and faculty sponsors will be notified of abstract acceptance or rejection by Friday, March 22.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more information, please visit the official research symposium website or contact Dr. Bryan Raudenbush at raudenbc@wju.edu or 304-243-2330.
