- Acting President
Director of Former Jesuit Volunteer Relations
Jesuit Volunteer Corps
Kathleen Haser has committed more than 30 years to the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. She left a job at American Film magazine to become a Jesuit Volunteer in Baltimore in 1980, and was named executive director of JVC East in 1983. When JVC East merged with four other independent Jesuit volunteer organizations to become JVC, Haser transitioned into her current position, in which she helps FJVs connect with each other and build strong ties with JVC long after their service terms have ended.
Haser has served on the boards for Ignatian Solidarity Network, Good Shepherd Volunteers, Catholic Network of Volunteer Service, Marianist Sharing Fund, Philadelphia Archdiocese Campaign for Human Development, and St. Ignatius Parish Council. She was part of the national planning committee for Faith Doing Justice Conference in 1991, she's represented JVC at Jesuit European Volunteers Directors Meeting in 1992, and she initiated and hosted the first international meeting of Jesuit Volunteer programs in 1996.
She has received honorary doctorates from the University of Scranton and LeMoyne College, the Xavier Award from the New York Province, the Arrupe Award for Excellence in Ministry from Weston Jesuit School of Theology, and the Arrupe Award for Distinguished Contributions to Ignatian Mission Ministries from University of Scranton.
