What kinds of services are offered by your office?

We offer services to students and alumni regarding choosing a major, initiating a career research, securing an internship, conducting a job search and applying to graduate school.

What resources are available to students?

There are materials on different majors and careers available in a special section in the library and some resources in our office.

When should a student utilize the Career Development Center?

It is important that students know the CDC exists to help them throughout their years at WJU. It is strongly recommended that students begin to use our services their freshmen year.

Does the CDC offer services that benefit all majors?

Yes, the CDC’s programs and workshops are designed to assist all students. While some programs may be targeted to specific populations, the CDC provides programs encompassing a wide variety of interests and occupations. Individuals with undeclared majors are also encouraged to use these services.

What can parents do to assist their student in his/her career development?

It is important for parents to provide students with encouragement and support throughout the entire college career exploration and planning process. Students will probably show signs of indecision, frustration and anxiety, as well as excitement, motivation, and confidence. Help them deal with the wide variety of emotions. Celebrate their success and motivate them to meet new challenges when facing barriers and indecisions. Also encourage them to use the services available to them through the CDC.
