To support the campus community in individual counseling services with students and to the community at large as a source of consult, information, referral, and risk management.


2.1 Wheeling Jesuit University will provide counseling services, consult, information and referral from a Licensed Professional Counselor, preferably with the ALPS credential, to its community upon request and when need occurs.

2.2 Definitions

  1. 'LPC' - Licensed Professional Counselor
  2. 'ALPS' - Approved Licensed Professional Supervisor

2.3 Procedures

West Virginia Board of  Examiners in Counseling:

  1. WVBEC posts a list of active LPCs and ALPS at: http://www.wvbec.org

  2. WJU Human Resources: The WJU HR Department will search for appropriately credentialed counselors through their established processes.
  3. In the events of vacation, illness, summer leave incidents of urgency will be addressed by the Dean of Student Development via referral of the Student Cocunseling Service Administration Assistant.


The Director of Human Resources has the authority to change, modify or approve exceptions to this policy at any time with or without notice and with the approval of the University President.
